Dear Editor:

I wanted to take a moment to thank and encourage the true brave leaders of our community that refuse to give in to the corruption by our Board of Supervisors. Leaders such as John Hodges, Marshall Scattini and former CAO Terrance May have stood up for the citizens of this community even after endless intimidation from supervisors Richard Scagliotti, Bob Cruz , Pat Loe and Ruth Kessler.

After losing the election, supervisor Bob Cruz and the other supervisors did everything possible to change the results, but John Hodges stood his ground and refused to allow them to steal votes for their own gain. In response, several of the Board of Supervisors have done everything possible to eliminate John Hodge’s elected position. After spending over $2 million of taxpayer’s money attacking local citizens and tens of thousands of dollars trying to keep Bob Cruz in office the supervisors are now complaining that John Hodges had no authority to spend $1,500 to protect himself from their attacks.

The Board of Supervisors is also trying to eliminate Marshall Scattini’s elected position for nothing more than refusing to help the supervisors intimidate the public.

Perhaps the most noble of all of the true leaders was former CAO Terrance May who resigned from his position rather than follow supervisor Bob Cruz’s orders to publicly attack John Hodges for no reason.

True honest leaders are rare these days not because there are none, but because the corrupt ones do everything in their power to eliminate them. I hope everyone in San Benito County understands the courage these men have demonstrated over the last few months and calls them to say thank you.

Hollister
