Local organizations have scheduled three separate election forums in the coming weeks.
The League of United Latin American Citizens will host the first candidate forum at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26, next Wednesday, at Hollister City Hall, 375 Fifth St.
LULAC asked that people RSVP their attendance by emailing
vm****@sb*******.net
or to
in**@sb******.org
.
The second forum is hosted by four nonprofits and will focus entirely on the Measure E sales tax proposal. Hosts include the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, Hollister Downtown Association, Community Foundation for San Benito County and the San Benito County Business Council.
It is set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3, a Wednesday, at Hollister City Hall. The organizations are promoting the forum as a free, non-partisan, public educational event where supporters and opponents are set to present their cases followed by questions from the audience.
The final forum of the three will be hosted by the San Benito County Farm Bureau. It is broken up into two separate nights, 6 p.m. Oct. 16 and 6 p.m. Oct. 17. It is also set for Hollister City Hall, while questions can be emailed to Business Council Executive Director Kristina Chavez Wyatt at
sa****************************@gm***.com
or by calling (831) 524-0408.
Among the local items on the November ballot include the first at-large race for Hollister mayor, the Measure E sales tax extension (which would keep the rate at 8.25 percent), Hollister and San Benito High school district seats, several other school districts, and seats for state Assembly and U.S. Congress.
Look back for more, including candidates confirmed to attend forums.
