Greenwood’s Greg Zazueta repeats, again, as favorite car
salesman
Despite tough economic times, local car salesman Greg Zazueta
remains upbeat about his profession, which allows him to interact
with people on a daily basis at Greenwood Chevrolet-Buick-GMC on
San Felipe Road.

You meet a lot of nice people and provide them with something
they look forward to buying, so it’s rewarding,

said Zazueta, who was selected for the third straight year as
local best car salesperson by Pinnacle readers.
His colleague, Gino Andrade, was named in the Top 2 in that
category for the second time in three years.
Despite tough economic times, local car salesman Greg Zazueta remains upbeat about his profession, which allows him to interact with people on a daily basis at Greenwood Chevrolet-Buick-GMC on San Felipe Road.

“You meet a lot of nice people and provide them with something they look forward to buying, so it’s rewarding,” said Zazueta, who was selected for the third straight year as local best car salesperson by Pinnacle readers.

His colleague, Gino Andrade, was named in the Top 2 in that category for the second time in three years.

“I’d like to thank the local people for supporting me,” he said. “It’s always great to win something like that.”

Zazueta, who has sold cars for 18 years – including the past five at the local Greenwood dealership – said that when he began his car-selling career he was at first “terrified” to talk to people.

He has overcome that fear and now works to get to know his customers.

“We’re a very low-key, low-pressure store,” he said. “The main thing is to treat people nice and find something in common to talk about.”

With the economic downturn having changed things “tremendously” in the car sales business, Zazueta said that more people are looking to buy used cars to avoid the depreciation of new cars. Despite the challenges, “we’re still here and we’re still kicking.”

Zazueta’s three children graduated from Sacred Heart School in Hollister and his two sons attend Palma, where Zazueta went to high school before playing football at Gavilan College. He was a cornerback on Gavilan’s undefeated 1973 national championship team coached by Bob Garcia, the father of former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia. Zazueta’s daughter attends the University of the Pacific, where she plays water polo.
