The District 9 Minors Tournament of Champions game between the Hollister National Little League Cubs and the Hollister American Little League Twins will remain at Salinas National Little League park as originally scheduled. The game takes place tonight at 5:30 p.m. Late word to the Free Lance on Monday night from Larry Deaton, District 9 chief, was that the game would be moved to Hollister to accomodate the two local nines. However, all three Little League fields at Vet’s Park are booked tonight with playoff games.
The winner of tonight’s Cubs-Twins game moves on to Wednesday’s championship game vs. power-laden Hartnell, which clubbed Greenfield 27-6 Monday night. The title game is in Gonzales at 5:30 p.m.
There is plenty of Little League action tonight at Vet’s Park. The Braves and Marlins compete for second place in the National League Majors Division. The winner faces the American League A’s on Saturday at 9 a.m. in a first round District 9 TOC game.
The Orioles, first place winners in the American League and the Giants, first place winners in the National League, both get underway in the TOC’s, which take place at Vet’s Park this Friday. The Orioles kick things off at 5 p.m. vs. North County, while the Giants take on Soledad at 7 p.m.
Playoffs are ongoing with AA and Farm A at Vet’s Park all week with championship games scheduled for this Saturday.
In AA playoff action last night, the Mets defeated the Braves 6-5. The Mets meet the Marlins in Saturday’s National League title game.
The Blue Jays whistled by the Yankees 7-5. The Blue Jays face tonight’s White Sox-Devil Rays winner for the American League title on Saturday.
The Rangers ran past the Mariners 11-6 Monday and will play the White Sox Wednesday in a semifinal game. Tonight’s A’s-Angels winner plays the White Sox-Rangers victor this Saturday in the title game in what should be a very busy weekend at Vet’s Park.
