City Hall

The Hollister council this week appointed Shari Stevenson to fill a brief vacancy in the District 2 seat on the council.
Two residents applied for the appointed seat to fill out the term, through November, of former Councilman Robert Scattini.
Jillian Wilson and Stevenson submitted applications to the Hollister City Clerk’s Office.
Scattini resigned from his District 2 council seat July 31 because he moved to another district. His move came after the Hollister School District raised rent on a home – from $450 to $1,750 – where he lived and oversaw Calaveras School security for a quarter-century. The district has been using a private security company since early 2013 instead Scattini, a retired marshal and a former sheriff.
Stevenson will succeed Scattini for three months. Stevenson lists herself as a San Benito County representative for the Monterey County Military & Veterans Affairs Office.
Declaring to run for the permanent seat are Mickie Solorio Luna and Victoria Montoya.
Scattini is seeking the District 3 opening and will run against Karson Klauer.
