Changes to local bus routes will begin Monday, July 13, according to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
VTA is changing some routes as part of its annual transit service plan, which is updated each year in response to changes in demand and ridership levels.
Specifically, Morgan Hill community bus line 15 will be discontinued starting Monday. That line currently carries riders from the area of La Crosse and Calle Enrique, to City Hall and the public library, to the Jackson Oaks area at the eastern end of Dunne Avenue.
Line 15 will be eliminated because of low ridership.
On the other hand, bus line 68, which goes from Gilroy to San Jose via Monterey Road, has seen increasing ridership in the last year. Starting Monday, buses on that route will run every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes as it currently operates.
In Gilroy, community bus lines 14 and 17 will be re-structured to provide two-way service instead of one-way loops. Also, the frequency of both buses will be improved to 30-minute intervals instead of the current 60-minute service.
A detailed explanation of all the routes is available on the VTA web site www.vta.org.
