I am writing this letter to protest the city’s proposed plan to
build wastewater ponds near Wright Road. This proposal would
pollute the area near my home and negatively impact my quality of
life and those of my family and neighbors.

I am writing this letter to protest the city’s proposed plan to build wastewater ponds near Wright Road. This proposal would pollute the area near my home and negatively impact my quality of life and those of my family and neighbors.
I have read about how wastewater ponds have affected other communities. The air turned foul, landscapes were scarred and blight settled in. Residents of these communities either moved out of their homes or risked serious health consequences.
I am not against the building of the wastewater ponds for the sake of the whole community, but they should not be built so close to the good citizens of Wright Road.
Choosing the location of the ponds has not been an open and transparent process. The soil on the Wright Road site had already been sampled by the time I learned of this proposal. The city should not be in the business of railroading projects through homes and neighborhoods. Too much is at stake for a quick fix to the problem of water tables being too high and salty.
I have lived and worked in Hollister most of my life and have been a homeowner on Wright Road for five years. I expect to live out the rest of my life in Hollister as a productive member of this community. In exchange, I only ask that the city treat me and my family with the respect and consideration I deserve.
