Yukiko Kinoshita passed away suddenly at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on Jan. 2 at the age of 67 years.
Mrs. Kinoshita was a native of Brighton, Colo. and has been a Hollister resident since 1989 when she and her husband moved here from Yuma, Ariz. Mrs. Kinoshita received her education in Japan as well as in Colorado. She and her husband Kenneth T. Kinoshita were co-owners of K & Y Farms of San Benito County. Upon retiring from farming Mrs. Kinoshita worked for Countryside Day Care providing education and care for pre-schoolers and young children. Her family said “she loved working with all children as it brought her much joy.”
Yukiko was a member of the Watsonville Buddhist Temple and the Buddhist Women’s Association. She enjoyed bowling, and took great pride in cooking and being a homemaker for her family, especially doing things for her grandchildren.
Besides her spouse Kenneth T. Kinoshita, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Lorrie Layman and husband, Curt, of Morgan Hill; Eileen Crumbaker and husband, David, of Eloy, Ariz., Greg Kinoshita and wife, Carolyn, of San Jose, and Ron Kinoshita and wife Maria of Hollister; grandchildren, KG Crumbaker, Rowdy, Shane and Wylee Crumbaker, Ron and Kate Layman, Ashley, Justin, Nicholas and Emily Kinoshita; four sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Joe Sugiura.
Friends are invited to attend the memorial service as well as the Seven Day service on Wednesday Jan. 5 at 2pm at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister.
Arrangements for private cremation and inurement have been conducted through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Crematory.
