It’s time to dust off those walking shoes and put them to good
use, because the 17th annual Hollister Street Festival is back.
The summer tradition will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Saturday between San Benito and Fourth streets, and between East
and Monterey streets.
Crowds of more than 10,000 people from around San Benito County,
as well as neighboring cities, are expected to attend, according to
officials with the Hollister Downtown Association.

Festival committee members have been working overtime to put together an extravagant entertainment schedule, said HDA Executive Director Liz Kresky.
“We’ve got two stages of entertainment and over 65 vendors participating,” Kresky said.
Kicking off the festival at 10 a.m. on the main stage will be Kenjiklay, followed by Knucklebone, Frisbee Productions Karaoke, Blue Heat and crowd favorite Elvis and the Lawmen.
At noon, local groups such as USA Sports Connection, Laura’s Dance Academy and Galaxy Cheerleaders will light up the children’s stage.
Most of the acts are local talent, which the downtown association has attempted to focus this year’s festival around, Kresky said.
“We really wanted to showcase community flair this year,” she said, “and provide an unpretentious atmosphere.”
A large draw for residents in and around Hollister will be the classic car show, which will be located between Seventh and South streets on San Benito Street. Awards for best of show, first place, second and third place will be presented to the winners at 4 p.m.
The festival generates considerable foot traffic downtown, so many of the downtown business owners will have sidewalk sales, as well as other booths and attractions set up for festival-goers.
“It’s an event for all ages,” Kresky said. “No matter what your interests, there’s something there for you.”
