The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting at the Mabie First Street Healthcare Center.

Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital celebrated the grand opening of its new Mabie First Street Healthcare Center on May 18 with a ribbon cutting by the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce.

The healthcare center officially opened for patients on Monday and is located at 321 First St. in Hollister. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. The center has a family practitioner on staff to provide care for all ages.

The clinic is named in honor of the Mabie Family and their commitment to the underserved residents of San Benito County.

To meet the rising demand for clinic services and space, the district board and administration turned to the Mabie Foundation with a proposal asking for support of the clinic and service expansion project.

William and Inez Mabie were ranchers in the area who set up their family foundation through their estate.

“We are very grateful to the Mabie family for having the foresight to set aside their assets to benefit the San Benito County area for generations to come,” said Ken Underwood, CEO of Hazel Hawkins, in a press release.

“We feel honored to have received such extraordinary support.”
