Suspect arrested

Hollister police Saturday arrested a 21-year-old suspected gang member accused of possessing an illegal knife, according to police.

Gang Officer Carlos Rodriguez was conducting CalGRIP gang patrol and assisted a county sheriff’s deputy at 5:20 p.m. trying to contact a group of known gang members at A&W, 203 South St.

Most of them ran away, but Rodriguez detained Tony R. Huerta at Hawkins and Prune streets.

Police said he is a known gang member and had an illegal switchblade on him when checked.

He was booked into the San Benito County Jail suspected of possessing the knife and violating terms of probation, which included gang conditions.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is requested to call Rodriguez at (831) 636-4330. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME.
