Local Scouts collected food for Community Food Bank.

San Benito County Boy Scout Troops along with Cub Scouts and
Girl Scouts collected a record amount of 4, 953 pounds of
non-perishable food for the Community Food Pantry on Dec. 9 and 11,
in the annual Scouting for Food event. This collection exceeded the
2009 amount of 2,728 pounds.
On Dec. 9, Scouts dropped off flyers throughout Hollister
neighborhoods announcing the Scouting for Food project. Then, on
Dec. 11, Scouts collected the food in bags and delivered them to
the Community Pantry of San Benito County, where the food was
handed out to the needy of Hollister.

A second-year Webelos Scout from Pack 408, Andrew Hoefling, said it was fun meeting a lot of people who donated food. He added that the event was a benefit to the community. On behalf of participating scouts, Troop 400 would like to thank the citizens of Hollister for their generosity and cooperation.
