Birthdays are celebrated in South County
Are you enjoying this beautiful weather as much as I am? It
doesn’t get much better than this. All we need is a few more April
showers and this will be one heck of a good year.
Birthday wishes go out to many folks this week as there are lots
of special people celebrating. Cynnie O’Connor celebrated last
Wednesday, John Brewen celebrated last Thursday and Tracie
Eade-Eggleston celebrated last Friday. Little Braydee Bourdet
celebrated her first birthday on April 3 while our beautiful baby
girl Sierra Jo celebrated her 18th birthday on April 5. Seems like
she was just born yesterday and now she’s going to be heading off
to college in a few months! Happy Birthday to everyone. Hope you
all enjoyed your special day.

South County lost a wonderful lady last week with the passing of Rose Prewett. Rose passed away last Saturday at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She was a beautiful lady who will be missed by many. My condolences go out to the entire Prewett family.

We headed up to Salinas last Friday evening to watch the North vs. South Senior All-Star Basketball game. The game was held at the Boys and Girls Club in Salinas and representing the South and King City was Sierra Sans while Nicole Rianda, Erin Glasspool and Cyrena Salinas represented the North and San Benito High School. It was an exciting game from the tip-off and was neck and neck the whole game. Fortunately for us, the South pulled off the win by only two points at the end of the game. It was a lot of fun and a great way to end their high school basketball careers. Eric Elayda and Cooper Sepulveda for Hollister High School participated on the Boys’ All-Star team for the North. They were the big winners over the South following the girls’ game.

The Salinas Rodeo grounds will be hosting the annual Central Coast Challenge High School Rodeo this weekend. Several California districts will be on hand competing. Some of those from our area who will be participating include Megan and Tommy Ford, Blaine and Blaire Strohn, Wyatt Nacarrato, Cash Robinson, Cheyenne Rey, Kristy Melton, Sierra Sans and Taylor Hurley. The rodeo will take place on Saturday and Sunday so be sure to head on over to cheer on your favorite cowboy and cowgirl.
