San Benito County Supervisors voted this week to continue on with a speed limit decrease on six miles of Southside Road.

The supervisors will vote April 13 to put the change in effect. Thirty days after the vote, the speed limit will be officially changed.

The newly reconstructed road will change its speed limit from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour. The new speed limit will affect the road between its intersection with Highway 25 at Tres Pinos and just after the intersection with Union Road, more than six miles of road.

The speed change comes after the county repaved the road in January. Since completion, the county has established a speed survey in the area, determining the best speed for the new road.

The board unanimously approved the change Tuesday.
