Hollister police responded to two possibly-related cases of shots fired in residential neighborhoods early Saturday morning, while there were no reported injuries.

At 12:20 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired near the 100 block of Recht Street. When officers arrived on scene, they received another report of shots fired near the 300 block of South Street.

In the second shooting 20 minutes after the first, witnesses described two men in their early 20s on foot with “something” in their hands.

“Witnesses couldn’t tell if they were holding guns or not,” said Sgt. David Westrick with the Hollister Police Department.

The suspects were described as two white males, with one wearing a red beanie and a long, black coat, and the other wearing all dark colors.

At this time, police have no witnesses in the first shooting.

In both cases, officers discovered the use of two firearms. With the vicinity of the crimes within one mile, police are looking into the idea that they are related.

“Detectives are working on it right now,” Westrick said. “They were within 20 minutes of each other. There were two guns in each. We are working to see if they are related.”

Officers have no information on the suspects’ motives, or any identification on the suspects, but the investigation is ongoing, Westrick said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the police department at 636-4330 or anonymously at WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME.
