As of Wednesday, 2,921 doves will be released at 9 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and at noon on the East Cost on Saturday. Forty doves will be released in Hollister from Shannon German of Central Coast Doves.

The number of doves being released changes daily as more people pledge to release doves, according to a statement from the White Wings Over America.

Hollister is one of eight locations in California that is releasing doves during the morning tribute. More than 600 doves will be released in Los Angeles from two different companies, according to the White Wings Over America website.

The Hollister release one of four locations in Northern California and the only one in the Central Coast region, according to the website. The other three areas are near Sacramento.

It is the second year of the dove release ceremony that releases thousands of trained white homing pigeons that return home upon their release.
