Pros: The site just went live so there are only a few postings, but so far staff has made efforts to post something everyday. It seems like it could become a great forum for locals to check out what is going on with downtown stores for the week, or to find out about upcoming events such as an outdoor movie series planned for this summer.
Early postings include information on how to get a banner posted at the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets or across San Benito, a reminder that the Briggs Building offers plenty of free parking and items about business happenings. It seems like it may be a good venue for downtown businesses to share short updates all in one place.
Regular visitors can even sign up for an account that allows them to become “followers” of the blog.
Cons: For a blog to really capture readers, it will need to be updated on a daily basis and offer a reason for readers to check in frequently. So far, it’s hard to tell if it will work or not.
