A rosy future
The municipal rose garden at Dunne Park is one of the nice
things about Hollister. The collection at the corner of Seventh and
West streets offers a tranquil respite at the edge of downtown.

The municipal rose garden at Dunne Park is one of the nice things about Hollister. The collection at the corner of Seventh and West streets offers a tranquil respite at the edge of downtown.
But, as any gardener knows, roses do best when they’re fussed over a little. With city parks staff still short, members of the Fairview 4-H Club pitched in last Saturday to prune roses and replace those that had died over the last 12 months.
The club has more than 30 members, and about half turned out, shears in hand, to give the shrubs a haircut.
The city welcomes volunteer efforts in its public spaces. To sign up, or for further information, call parks supervisor Marcelo Orta at 636-4370.
