County Spelling Bee
HOLLISTER
– The spell-off is complete. Two local students have been named
first place Spelling Bee winners for San Benito County. Katherine
Whorley took first for the junior high division. Andrew Pearson
took first for the elementary school division. Other top placers in
the junior high division include Jac
ob Garcia, second place; Lena Splees, third place; and Hannah
Press, fourth place. Other elementary school division placers
include Hayden Alvernaz, second place; Victor Reyes, third place;
and Elli Giacomazzi, fourth place.

Interim pastor installed at Trinity
HOLLISTER – Rev. T. Scott Minke has been installed as the interim pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hollister. Minke began serving the congregation in February and has been formally trained in the Intention Interim Ministry. He is a graduate of California Lutheran College, and received his master of divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1974. For the past 35 years, he has served as the called pastor at five churches in Ohio, California and Nevada.
He most recently served at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Reno, Nev. He has served as an interim pastor in Hillmar and Sacramento.
