County supervisors Tuesday are set to consider rate increases for the John Smith Landfill and will hold a public hearing on the matter.
The proposed rate increases are associated with a cost-of-living adjustment and added costs from implementation of AB32, which requires counties to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
The proposed rates are solid waste moving from $61 to $62.75; compact franchise solid waste from $43 to $44.75; and residual solid waste from $30 to $31.75, according to the board agenda.
The rate increases are expected to generate $220,000 annually, according to the agenda report.
Supervisors are set to meet and hold the public hearing at 9 a.m. at the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St.
