South County’s reach extends to Hollywood
I hope you all had a nice Memorial Day weekend. The weather
cooperated and made for a nice weekend. There were plenty of bikers

I had a nice surprise the other day when I read the Pinnacle Newspaper. For those who don’t know, I write this column for both the King City and Hollister newspapers. Well, a week after the fair, when I finally got a chance to sit down and catch up on my newspaper readings from both papers, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I have fans all the way down in Hollywood! Bob Valenzuela, a columnist for the Pinnacle actually lives in Hollywood and he wrote that all his Hollywood friends can’t wait for his newspaper to arrive so they can read about what’s happening in South County.
Apparently they have a hard time believing that communities like ours still exist. Yes, friends of Bob, South County and Bitterwater really do exist, and you’re welcome to come see it anytime you’d like. We can take you on trail rides, guided hunts and camp outs so you can experience the lifestyle that we do every day out here. You’re welcome anytime and we’d love to have you stop by.
Congratulations go out to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Strohn who were married last Saturday at the Strohn Ranch Chapel with the reception immediately following at the Strohn Ranch Country Club. Ed and Karen were married by Preacher Gene Strohn (yes, I said Gene Strohn). Somehow, Gene was legally ordained to perform this wedding for Ed and Karen. Unfortunately, we were unable to make it in time for the ceremonies, but, by all accounts, Gene did a great job. He even decided he would do Cowboy Church services the next morning for all those who ended up staying on top of the mountain for the night, and I’m sure there were many who did! Besides our family, some others who enjoyed the wedding and party after included: Les and Betty Sans, Judy Vierra, JoAnn and Leeann Falsey, Martin Salaberry, Robert and Tressy Vanetti, Scott and Kelly Naccarato, Kris, Pat, Averi and Robbie Regan, Dick and Jeanie Coefield, Wyatt Bourdett and Lacey Taliaferro, Pat and Michelle Castillo and their twins, Gene, Shana, Blaine and Blaire Strohn, Kathy Vargas, Mikel Ann Miller and her husband and Amy and Sandra Strohn just to name a few. There were so many people there enjoying a beautiful evening on top of the mountain that I didn’t get a chance to visit with everyone. Congratulations Ed and Karen, and thanks for a great party!
Birthday wishes go out to JoEllen Johnsen and Lynette Hurley who both celebrated birthdays last week. Get well wishes go out to Nessen Schmidt who had a horse go over backwards with him at the Parkfield Rodeo last weekend. He is pretty sore but doing well.
Michelle Kreibel hosted May’s hot lunch last week at Bitterwater Tully School. Some of those community members stopping by to enjoy lunch with the students included: Johnny Joe Maginni, Donna Hansen and her two granddaughters and Ruth Records and Roberta Oswald.
School is getting ready to wind down out here in South County. Eighth grade graduation ceremonies and a barbecue will be held on Friday evening, June 8 at Bitterwater Tully School beginning at 6 p.m. Graduating will be Katie Donham, Natalie Madson and Sierra Jo Sans. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the ceremonies. The girls will be traveling to Southern California this week for their eighth grade trip. They’ll enjoy at day at Disneyland, California Adventure Park and Universal Studios.
Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
