In regards to the letter about the Confederate flag and it’s meaning: The author of the letter might not realize that this flag holds a great deal in common with the ideology the Nazi flag stands for.
You see, American slavery did something innovative in the long history of slavery, it took the humanity away from the slave. All other slave owners held humans as slaves, humans from Greece, humans from Spain and the like. American slavery made them less then human. They taught that when Cain was banished from Eden he took an ape for a wife in the land of Nod and hence produced non-whites – a mix of human and animal.
Without the philosophy, Hitler taught the same about Jews, Gypsies and non-Arians. Both flags flew in an attempt to spread this message of hate and creative biology.
The Confederacy had an economy based on slave labor. Its flag celebrates that economy, the division of families, children torn from their mothers, wives sold from their husbands, husbands lynched in front of their families.
Which flag deserves to be used as toilet paper most? Shucks, I say it’s a tie.
