It happened at 10:38 p.m. and lasted, with aftershocks, about 30 seconds. After an initial slight jolt, the earthquake created a gradually fading roll.
The U.S. Geological Survey pinpointed the epicenter of the four-mile deep earthquake about three miles southwest of San Juan Bautista – where at least one call of broken glass was reported.
The Hollister Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Department received no calls regarding the earthquake.
