career day: Students, job hunters and people considering a career change are invited to attend Career Day at Gavilan College. Exhibitors representing diverse career field, including health care, law enforcement, public service, retail and the military will be on-hand to discuss job and career opportunities. Attendees may bring resumes to hand out. The event is free and open to the public. Preschool signups: Registration for 2004 fall classes at the Presbyterian Cooperative Preschool is Monday, April 19. Alumni and church members can sign up from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with new families invited from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Bring proof of child’s birth and immunization records to register and a $75 non-refundable deposit. Dinner/auction: The Nan Pipestem Wildlife Rehabilitation Center hosts its fifth annual dinner/auction Friday, April 2, at the Hollister Elks Lodge, located in the Hollister Airport. The raffle and silent auction will be at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and a live auction to follow. Weekend activities at Coe park: On Saturday, April 3, Winslow Briggs, author of “The Trails of Henry W. Coe State Park,” will lead visitors on a five-mile hike, starting at 10 a.m. from the visitors center. The hike will last about four hours. Bring water and a lunch.
Also at 10 a.m., there will be a discovery horse ride, starting at the Coyote Creek Entrance. Bring your own horse and learn about the history of the southern end of Coe Park. Advance sign-ups are required. Call Kitty at (408) 842-6215 or Chere at (408) 683-2247.
An evening program featuring the birds of Coe Park will start at 8 p.m. at the visitors center. Kevin Gilmartin and Barbara Bessey will help guests learn to identify the birds of Coe Park by sight and by sound.

AUTISM TREATMENT: Dr. Traver will discuss lab testing, the role of special diets, nutritional supplements and other biomedical interventions at a presentation on the most recent medical treatments for children on the Autism Sectrum using the DAN! SYMPHONY: The South Valley Symphony will have their next concert Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church at 8455 Wren Ave. in Gilroy. The concert has been designated as a “Celebration of Soloists,” and the orchestra will be under the direction of Henry Mollicone. Bike blessing: The Top Hatters Motorcycle Club’s Hollister Chapter will hold its 11th annual bike blessing Sunday, April 4. Bikers are invited to meet at Whiskey Creek Saloon, 201 Fifth St., from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The blessing will be at noon at Sacred Heart Church, at the corner of Fifth and College Street.
