Dear Editor:
Instead of SBC raising already unsustainable tax burdens on local homeowners and small business owners, why not treat the root cause of the problem: wasteful spending by our government. Since we get back only 11 cents/dollar that we send to Sacramento, it is extremely inefficient for SBC to remedy the budget mess with higher taxes. To get back $3.4 million to “repay” Sacramento, SBC’s taxpayers would have to pay (.11x = $3.4 million) $30,909,090.90 to Sacramento if the idiotic idea is approved. Why not offset some of the money that Sacramento owes us from past years’ contributions to the radical socialists in Sacramento?
Higher taxes/fees drive employers away, taking jobs to other states and countries. California ranks 49th among the states for business-friendly environment. Raising taxes/fees will worsen, not improve, our communities. Berserk government like the radical socialist miasma we’ve seen from them, e.g., public-sector transit, Bullet Train, affordable housing, and other Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist schemes are ruining our sate. If we defeated the USSR, why are we adopting its failed economic policies? Why are we letting them do it to us? It’s high time government ends deficit spending wastefulness. Just say “NO” to higher taxes, and “YES” to ending radical socialist deficit spending.
