Elena R. Arredondo, long-time Hollister resident, passed away at
Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Friday evening at the age of 76.
Elena was born in Simons, Los Angeles County , Calif. on August 18,
1927.
Elena R. Arredondo, long-time Hollister resident, passed away at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Friday evening at the age of 76. Elena was born in Simons, Los Angeles County , Calif. on August 18, 1927.
Her education was received in Los Angeles schools and schools in Guanajuato, Mexico. She was a cannery worker for Tri Valley Growers in San Benito County for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 890 of Salinas. She was a member of and very active in the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hollister. Her interests included “taking care of her husband Paulino who she loved very much and cooking for her family – always with a smile” said her children. “Gardening as well as going out to dinner with her family at different restaurants also made her happy.”
Survivors are her husband Paulino S. Arredondo of Hollister; her children Guadalupe Arredondo (spouse Evangelina), Ramon Arredondo (Esther), Juan Arredondo (Graciela), Antonio Arredondo (Isabel), Fernando Arredondo (Lydia), Armando Arredondo (Josefina), Maria Arredond, Leticia Arredondo, and Alfredo Arredondo ( Maria-Elena) all of Hollister. She is also survived by 40 grandchilden and many great grandchildren; brothers and sisters living in Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today (Monday) at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito Street, Hollister from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the mortuary.
Family and friends will gather at the mortuary on tuesday morning at 10 a.m. to proceed to Calvary Cemetery for burial and graveside ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
