San Juan Bautista residents will finally have a health clinic to call their own.
The San Benito County Health District and the Hazel Hawkins Foundation Board have announced that the Hazel Hawkins Community Healthcare Clinic will open July 7.
The clinic will be staffed by a full-time primary care physician with either a physician’s assistant or a nurse practitioner and focus on family and pediatric patients.
The 1,300-square foot clinic will be located in the back of the Windmill Plaza at 301 The Alameda, Suite B-3 and scheduled to be open Monday through Friday.
Plans were made to open a clinic in the Mission City because about half of San Juan Bautista’s population is either children or the elderly, and with limited bus service, it is often difficult for the elderly to go to Hollister for care, officials said.
The hospital board agreed to move forward with the plan and signed a lease in January with the Windmill Plaza. The board approved $150,000 for build-out costs to remodel the interior of the site and provide the basic medical equipment.
