Ciro Enrique Ramirez, 22, was charged with forceable rape, kidnapping and robbery Monday, according to Hollister Police Detective Tony Lamonica.

Ramirez, a local field worker, allegedly raped and brutalized a local Hispanic woman in her 40s on Aug. 3. The two met at the Agua Azul Bar on East Street, Lamonica said.

After offering to drive the woman home, Ramirez allegedly kidnapped her and drove her to a remote field behind the San Benito High School football field, according to a police-issued, written statement.

He then reportedly held a knife to her and told her he was going to kill her, Lamonica said.

“He ended up forcibly raping her and beating her pretty badly,” Lamonica said. “She may have a broken eye-socket and some other broken facial bones.”

Ramirez allegedly tied the victim’s hands and feet and left her in an abandoned 1985 Honda Prelude, where she eventually freed herself and immediately contacted the police. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated.

Ramirez was apprehended on Thursday due to a composite sketch issued by police department detectives to workers in the surrounding area where the rape took place. While contacting workers in the locality, investigators saw a man who resembled the composite drawing, according to the written statement.

The victim was able to positively identify her assailant, who was then arrested and transported to the police department for questioning. He was then transported to the San Benito County Jail where he was booked and is now in custody, Lamonica said.

The suspect’s car is in police custody, and may be used by another victim to positively identify Ramirez in another rape case, Lamonica said.
