Each semester, students and teachers at San Benito High School
are awarded for exemplifying the school’s Baler Code as well as
representing each of the school’s divisions.
The student members of the Student Advisory Committee select
five students and five staff members who best represent the
qualities of the Baler Code
–

A Baler is respectful, responsible, honest, civil, tolerant,
caring, courteous and courageous.

For the first semester, students earning the honor are Catalina
Garcia, Travis Haninger, Ehren Headley, Logan Krazter and Feifei
Ling. Teachers receiving the award are Herb Bocksnick, Doug Keck,
Chuck Schallhorn, Wes Standen and Amy Tagliaferri.

For the division chair awards, the teachers in each division select the top students in that division for the department’s Student Recognition Award. The students have demonstrated well-rounded, outstanding performance in this field as well as in the school and community. They are a credit to themselves, their parents, San Benito High School and the community.

These students are Stephanie Morrison for the fine arts division, dance; Taylor Griffith and Jenny Maheu for physical education; Anh Nguyen for English; Georgina Rodriguez for English as a Second Language; Joseph Arroyo for School-to-Career transition; Kevin Durham for life skills; Myra Ocampo for math; Jeff Gomes for automotive technology; Nicole Silveira for agriculture technology; Aron Zitzner for metal technology; Barulio Moreno for wood technology; Nathan Thome for drafting technology; Ruth Baladad for family and consumer science; Jennifer Crepeau for business; Peter Pham for social science, world studies; Akshay Banesh for social science, U.S. history; Ryan Andrade for social science, economics; Ehren Headley for social science, government; Hannah Guenther for science, biology; Zack Bainter for science, chemistry; Josh Bates for science, physics; Nick Bailey for fine arts, art/ceramics; Kalin Anderson for fine arts, music; Cody Rovella for fine arts, drama; Dana Neubauer and Elizabeth Medeiros for fine arts, journalism; Ivonne Arriaga for fine arts, multimedia; Crystal Achilles for French; Lucas Zepeda for Spanish; Venus Matuk for American Sign Language; Joe Ziebron and Amy Walls for Latin; Servando Medina and Alicia Jackson for Naval Junior ROTC; Becky Bonner for Associated Student Body, student activities; and Sheri Smith for ASB, community service.

An awards ceremony for the Baler Code and Division Chair awards will be Jan. 7 at 2:45 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.
