Last weekend, SBA had four swimmers compete at the Sunnyvale Swim Meet. Blane Curtice, 13, had an exceptionally good meet, clocking 2:37.0 in the 200-meter breaststroke, dropping two seconds off his week-old personal best.
Curtice also swam 25.77 in the 50-meter freestyle and 56.32 in the 100-meter freestyle. He dropped five seconds in the 100-meter butterfly, going from 1:10.41 to 1:05.2.
Brandon Drogemuller, 11, recorded a personal best in the 100 free. and swam the 50 backstroke in 39.8. He had a grueling schedule, swimming six events on the day.
Ryne Drogemuller, 13, was fifth in the 50 free at 31.03. He also dropped three seconds off his 100-free time, from 1.10 to 1.07.
“It looks like Ryne is starting to climb up the competition ladder at the moment,” said coach Andreas Lidholm. “He gave a very strong effort and gave 100 percent in all his events.”
Jessie Drogemuller, 9, took fifth in the 100 free for her division, clocking 1:36.7, dropping a whopping 20 seconds off her personal best. Jessie also swam the 50 breast and the 50 fly.
“I’m very content with the results and am looking forward to some more meets,” said Lidholm. “We’ve had good spark at meets.”
At the South Valley Scary Distance Meet Oct. 24-25, Ryne and Brandon Drogemuller and Curtice all participated. Brandon placed fifth in the grueling 1,000-free at 13.01.75, dropping his personal best about a minute. He showed promise as a butterflyer and IMer for the future.
Ryne battled to 9th place in the 200 breast at 3:10.75.
Curtice had a swift 200 breast at 2:39.13.
