closing in on a pair of thieves who attacked and robbed a pizza
delivery man.
Detectives with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department are closing in on a pair of thieves who attacked and robbed a pizza delivery man.
The sheriff’s department recovered the money stolen in a Nov. 11 robbery of a Straw Hat Pizza employee.
Detectives said the undisclosed amount of money was recovered by a resident who saw the money bag laying on the side of Fairview Road, Sheriff’s Detective David Hackman said.
The bag still contained all of the cash and checks the delivery man was carrying at the time of the robbery.
Hackman said the robbers are still at large, but the recovery of the money adds clues to the case that will make their trail much easier to follow.
The two robbers are described as Caucasian males in their early 20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. They were both wearing blue jeans and black boots, the sheriff’s department said.
The robbery happened Nov. 25 when the delivery man, whose name was not released by deputies, was delivering a pizza near the 900 block of Foothill Road at about 10:25 p.m. when he was flagged down by two unidentified men.
The two men attacked the delivery man, beat him about the head and face and then stole an undisclosed amount of money and some food items, the sheriff’s department said.
The suspects were last seen fleeing the scene in a green 1989 to 1991 Chevrolet Camaro.
