Dear Editor,

Just a few lines in defense of John Hodges: As a four-decade voter in three California counties, as well as two counties in Hawaii, I’d never seen a county registrar of voters in person. It was a welcome surprise to find John Hodges at my Spring Grove polling location in March 2004.

On the other hand, I give our boys in Sacramento a “Thumbs Down.” Once again, we will have to vote on too many confusing and devious propositions on the November ballot. It is outrageous that our elected state representatives concentrate on their re-election rather than taking a stand and/or vote on complex and costly issues. Please give thought to what our Washington, D.C. representatives have done for San Benito County when you cast your ballot. Do vote, and vote carefully.
