Hospital in Palo Alto at the age of 60.
Adolfo M. Montoya passed away on June 28, 2005 at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto at the age of 60. A lifelong resident of San Benito County, Mr. Montoya was born in La Crucita, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. He later volunteered to serve in Vietnam in 1968 and became a U.S. citizen in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He completed two tours of duty from 1968-1971 as a sergeant and paratrooper for the 173rd Airborne Infantry in the United States Army and later spent 14 years in the U.S. Army Reserve while working as a correctional officer for the California State Correctional Facility in Soledad.

Additionally, Mr. & Mrs. Montoya owned Lupe’s Bakery in Salinas for over 12 years. Mr. Montoya is survived by his wife, Lupe Montoya of Hollister, son Josue Montoya of Salinas, twin daughters Laura and Verónica Montoya and grandson Josiah Montoya. Mr. Montoya is also survived by his mother, Longina Montoya, sister Victoria Montoya, brother Noe Montoya and various nieces and nephews. Mr. Montoya was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Montoya. Viewing will be from 9am to 2pm with services beginning at 2pm on Tuesday, July 5th at Black, Cooper & Sanders in Hollister, CA.
