Assemblymember Luis A. Alejo, D-Salinas, is seeking nominations for the 2015 Veteran of the Year award, according to an announcement from his office.
Organizations and individuals are encouraged to nominate applicants who have demonstrated exemplary military service, community service and support for veterans in the community. The nominee must be an active or retired veteran of one of the five Armed Forces of the United States, including Reserve or National Guard, or the United States Merchant Marines.
“Our veterans risk their lives to protect American values and our freedoms,” states Alejo. “My father served during the Vietnam War and it is a privilege to honor and pay tribute to him and our veterans for their service to our great nation.”
Nominated veterans must live within the 30th Assembly District in any of the following areas: San Benito County, Salinas Valley, North Monterey County, South Santa Clara or the City of Watsonville.
