Editor,

My wife was with a bagger carrying her groceries to her car in the parking lot of a local store today. Suddenly the bagger pushed her to get away from a woman backing out of a parking slot.

The woman opened her window and said, “Don’t walk in back of my car!”

I wish my wife had thought to get her license so we could report her to the DMV. No matter what the circumstance, a pedestrian has the right of way over an automobile, just as a sailboat has the right of way over a passenger liner.

What have we come to where auto drivers think they can run over defenseless pedestrians?
