‘El Pachuco’ explains to Henry Reyna his perspective during the trial at a performance of El Teatro Campesino’s ‘Zoot Suit' in 2003.

El Teatro Campesino themed masks, theater and film posters and photos from the archives will soon fill the San Benito County Arts Council’s new space at 240 Fifth Street.
The exhibition, called “El Teatro Campesino: A retrospective,” focuses on the theater troupe’s work in San Benito County.
“We’re really excited to be highlighting one of the main artistic pillars in our community,” said Jennifer Laine, executive director for the SBC Arts Council. “Their work tells a great story, not only of the Latino and Chicano movement but also the local histories, too.”
The exhibit opens Sept. 19 and runs through Nov. 14. The space is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. To arrange a special opening outside of normal exhibit hours, call the Arts Council at (831) 636-2787.
