Hollister High’s freshman boys hoop team is 7-0 after taking the Alisal Tournament by defeating North Salinas 47-35 in Friday’s championship game.

The Balers had defeated Monte Vista Christian 48-24 and Salinas 40-20 in earlier tourney games.

Against the Vikings, Daryl Baladad had 12 points and was named the tournament’s MVP. Will Duncan had 10 points and was tabbed all-tournament.

Head coach John Becerra, who coached the Baler varsity for three decades, starts a lineup of Baladad, Duncan, Karson Klauer, Breyon Canez and Vince Bautista.

“All the kids are playing well,” said Becerra. “The defense has been outstanding.”

The program, as a whole, is a combined 17-2. The Baler varsity is 6-1, while the junior varsity is 4-1.
