Dear Editor,

The Oak Grove Eagles from San Jose scored a touchdown in the last few minutes of the game to beat our Haybalers 24-20 for the Central Coast Large School Division Championship Saturday at the City College field in San Jose.

Oak Grove may have scored four more points, but our Balers did not lose! These valiant young men are winners in every sense of the word.

All season long, in every game, they have made everyone connected with the team, with the school and with the community of Hollister and San Benito County very proud.

Coach Chris Cameron and his staff have once again produced not only a great football team, but have positively influenced the lives of all the young men on the Haybaler squad in ways that will multiply and last a lifetime. Thanks also to the fans and parents of these fine young men.

Old Haybalers never die. We just “fade away,” toward the end zone!
