San Benito defeated Sobrato 194-234 at Ridgemark Thursday
The San Benito boys golf team shot a 194 and easily beat Sobrato’s 234 at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister Thursday.
Playing on the Old Back Nine, which includes holes 1-6 and 16-18 of the Diablo Course, the ‘Balers broke 200 for the first time this year.
Medalist Joey Amaral shot par with a 36 to lead San Benito.
“The kids played pretty well,” assistant coach Sal Felice said. “At some point, they’re gonna break 190 and 185.”
Nathan Winn and Marcus Synegal each carded a 38, while Will Cross shot a 40. Derell Aton rounded out the San Benito scorers with a 42, and Justin Palmquist finished the day with a 45.
Felice, who believes the ‘Balers can shoot better than a 194, said a couple of the golfers had to finish their round in darkness.
“I think 194 won’t be the lowest score you’ll see from them this year,” Felice said.
San Benito will play Monday in the Monterey Bay Invitational at the Salinas Golf and Country Club. Tee time is 11 a.m.
