In her first fight in more than three years, Kelsey Jeffries earned a draw with Claudia Gutierrez of Chico at the Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino Resort in Canyonville, Ore on Saturday.
One of the judges gave Jeffries a 59-55 victory, but the final two judges each marked the fight even at 57-57. Once the results were announced, the crowed booed the results, Jeffries’ manager Bruce Anderson said.
“I was very pleased of her performance but not the judging. But it was a good fight,” manager Bruce Anderson said. “It was a tough fight.”
For Anderson and Jeffries the fight showed that she still has the “fire” to be in the ring, he said.
“She told me she wanted to see if she still had that fire in her belly to do it,” Anderson said, “and she did that.”
The two will now look for the right opportunity to fight again but that will depend on Jeffries nursing school, Anderson said.
“Her school comes first so we will see,” he said.
