At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, several residents attacked a 14-year-old boy on the 1000 block of Monterey Street. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the attack, but survived and is doing fine, according to the Hollister Police Department.

The victim, who’s from Hollister, had been walking to his cousin’s house southward on Monterey Street when a car full of men pulled up next to him, said Officer Rosie Betanio with the police department.

One jumped out of the car and ran at the boy. He told police he hit the first attacker and dropped him to the ground but that another suspect got out of the car and struck him in the head with a rock.

Betanio reported that the victim fell over and noted to police how he felt several hands touching him and that he was stabbed five times.

He went for treatment to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, which reported the crime to police, Betanio said.

She said the boy is doing OK, but that police have no suspect or vehicle information because the victim is being uncooperative. Police still are investigating whether it might be a gang-related attack, she said.
