Library Week celebration

The San Benito County Free Library will celebrate its 95th anniversary during National Library Week, April 9013. All programs are free to attend. April 10 activities include a teen video project with CMAP, from 3 to 6 p.m. April 12 activities include a customer appreciation day with refreshments and a technology demonstration, from noon to 4 p.m., a family literacy night VIP story time and puppet show, from 5:30 to 6 p.m., Chamber Music, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm., unveiling of a new library logo and appreciation ceremony, from 7 to 7:10 p.m., Evening of the Stars volunteer and literacy tutor/learner reception and literacy essay contest winners announced 7:10 to 8 p.m. April 13 there will be a movie night from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with the movie to be announced. Art awards

The San Juan Bautista Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West will present the awards for the 2012 Art Talent Contest April 11, at 6 p.m., in the adobe, 203 Fourth St., in San Juan. First prize includes a pastel painting by Cara Marie Esteban, from San Benito High School. Details:

‘Narna’ opens this weekend

The San Benito Stage Company presents “Narnia,” C.S. Lewis’ tale of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” The show opens April 13, with additional shows on April 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7 p.m., and matinees on April 15 and 22, at 2 p.m., at the Granada Theater, 336 Fifth St., in Hollister. General admission is $15, students and seniors are $12, and group packs are available for advance purchase for $40 for four tickets. Earthquake walk

Join geologists at 9 a.m. Saturday from Pacific Geotechnical Engineering for an informative walk and talk through downtown Hollister, and get up close and personal with the world-famous Calaveras Fault. See where the fault runs and the damage that active fault movement is causing. Learn what it means for future earthquake probabilities, effect on property values and more. Crab Crack and Dance

Hollister Exchange Club will hold its annual Crab Crack and Dance April 14 at the Pavilion at the San Benito County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Musical group Dadz will perform. Enjoy all-you-can-eat crab, pasta and salad. There will be a raffle and silent auction. Cost: $50 each.  There is a $5 discount for tickets purchased online. Sunnyslope flea market

Sunnyslope Elementary School is seeking vendors for a school flea market on April 21, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to the public and will be held in the school’s parking lot. For $15, vendors will get two parking spaces to set up their goods. Food and drink will be sold. The deadline to reserve a space is April 13.

The flea market will coincide with an e-waste collection at the corner of Sunnyslope Medical Park. Residents can drop off a variety of electronics and appliances including computers, monitors, keyboards, washers, dryers, vacuums, irons, space heaters, mp3 players, alarm clocks, hair dryers and more. Pink flamingoes in yards

The Hollister Women’s Club will be doing an interactive fundraiser during the first two weeks of April. According to their press release, “pink flamingoes are migrating our way and will soon be flocking to yards near you during the first two weeks of April. Keep an eye out for these pretty pink birds, but be cautious as they can be territorial. Reunion for class of 1982
