BOok Sale: Friends of Library will hold its monthly book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17 and May 15 behind the San Benito County Free Library and the Historical Society at 470 Fifth and Monterey streets. New and used books of all genres will be available. If you have materials to donate please bring them to the Friends Book Shed during the sale or to the donation table at the library lobby. OPEN STUDIO TOUR: San Benito Open Studio Tour is Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25. Members of the Aromas Hills Artisans open their studios to the public for two days. Pick up a free map and details at Ingram Realty in Aromas.

SPreschool: The Hollister Methodist United Church Preschool will be holding registration for the 2004-05 school year. New families to the school will register on Friday, April 16, beginning at 8 a.m. Registration is done on a first come, first serve basis. Classes are offered for children 3 to 5 years of age. County Musical Festival: Local public school students will perform at the annual San Benito County Music festival at 7 p.m. Friday, April 16. ScholarshiP: Applications for the 2004 Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Award are now available. Each year the Auxiliary awards scholarships to students who are pursuing a medical or medically oriented career. To be eligible you must be a high school graduate, resident of San Benito County for a minimum of one continuous year and apply by April 16. A complete list of eligibility rules and an applications are available in the lobby at Hazel Hawkins Hospital, at San Benito High School, Gavilan College or call Frankie Valent in the hospital’s public relations office at 636-2644.

CLUB LIVE DANCE: San Benito Youth Council/San Benito Prevention Coalition will sponsor the monthly Club Live dance on Friday, April 16, 2004 from 7 to 9:45 pm at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West Street. The dance is for San Benito County middle school students only. Admission is $4 for Club Live members and $5 for non-members. School identification card with photo is required and no one will be admitted without it. The dance is part of the Youth Council’s drug-free activities for San Benito County youth. Hollister kiwanis club: The Hollister Kiwanis Club will be holding its annual pasta feed fund raiser Friday, April 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bertha Briggs House, 1221 Memorial Drive. The meal includes all you can eat pasta with meat or meatless sauce, salad, garlic bread, a beverage and dessert and is available for dine-in or take-out. Scout-o-Rama: San Benito County Boy Scouts and boys who are interested in becoming scouts are invited to attend the 2004 Scout-o-Rama on Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vets Park in Hollister. Boys will be able to earn their art merit badge, as well as participate in other fun activities. A water boiling contest, pinewood derby, zipline and making gak are just some of the activities planned. Hot dogs, chips and sodas will be available for purchase. Kidz Kamp: Summer is right around the corner and the Kidz Kamp Unlimited is preparing to begin. They are offering a full schedule of weekly themes and once a week field trips in or out of town, crafts, games and enriched experiences in music, theater, dance and creative arts. Early bird registration will be Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 372 Fourth St., next to Cozy Cup Cafe. The camp will start June 13 and end Aug. 21.
