Serendipity is a new store in downtown Hollister and it is scheduled for a grand opening Aug. 14 at the 616 San Benito St. location.

Serendipity is a store that sells what it calls unique gifts, home decor, jewelry, accessories, books, cards and more, according to an announcement for the grand opening celebration.

That celebration is scheduled for a week from Saturday and there will be several offerings.

Visitors can enter to win a special Serendipity gift basket, with a raffle at 3 p.m. They can browse the selection of merchandise, explore the “Attic” for used and antique items, or check out the arts and crafts workshop calendar.

The owner of Serendipity is Robin Carlen, who grew up in Hollister. Her mother, Rina Sims, and sister, Laurel Rowe, also are both involved in the business.
