Rock benefit
The San Benito High School Rock Guitar Club will host the 5th
annual Benefit Concert in the high school auditorium from 6 p.m. to
10 p.m. March 14 Performances will include The Task Come Back, Bear
and Bull Fights, Fugu, Inevitably Spicy, Enduring the Sun, The Dark
Horse Battalion, Exhibit A, BEEFTONE and Eleonora. It will also
feature a drawing for a 60-inch Mitsubishi flat screen television
with the winner announced at the end of the concert. All proceeds
benefit the Community Pantry of San Benito County. Tickets are $10
each and are available from guitar club members and at the student
payment center on campus.

“Misery”

Path of the Padres

San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area will be again leading the popular “Path of the Padres” hikes on some Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays. Hikes are open to the public, ages 6 and older, by advance reservation only. School group hikes may be arranged for Fridays. “From the Archives of Jo Mora”

The Monterey History and Art Association will be hosting the exhibit “From the Archives of Jo Mora” at the Monterey Maritime and History Museum, 5 Custom House Plaza, starting today through May 25. The museum is free and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mora, born in 1876, was a sculptor, painter, author and multi-talented man who worked as an Indian language interpreter for the U.S. Army. He designed the commemorative half dollar for the 75th anniversary of California’s statehood. The work on display is a cross-section of Mora’s achievements. For more information, call 372-2608.

“Bolero” concert

The Watsonville Community Band will be performing a free spring concert at the Veteran’s Memorial Building, 649 San Benito St., today at 7:30 p.m. as part of its 61st anniversary celebration. “Anything Goes”

The San Benito High School drama club will be performing their spring production of “Anything Goes” starting today through Sunday at 7 p.m at the San Benito High School auditorium. Circle of Reflection

The Hollister Japanese Temple Garden will be hosting a Circle of Reflection Tea Ceremony today at 1 p.m. at 920 Riverside Road, in Hollister. Minako Tsuji, a professor, will demonstrate the tea ceremony under the cherry blossoms, followed by a meditation ceremony led by Don Belt. Tsuji is a graduate of Kyoto Women University and when she was in Kyoto she learned the tea ceremony of Urasenke. She received a tea teaching diploma Junkyo in 1997, Chamei in 1981 and Kyoju in 2008. She started teaching tea ceremony at Hakone Garden in 1985, and teaches it every Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 637-6361.

Wildflower day

The public is invited to Pacheco State Park today for the 6th annual wildflower day from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. People from the state parks, Fish and Game, the Native Plant Society and other organizations will be on hand to answer questions. A birding walk starts at 9:30 a.m., with a wildflower hike at 10 a.m., and a history walk at noon. There is a $5 per car fee for day use in the park. Rotary scholarship fundraiser

The Hollister rotary is hosting a community take-out BBQ as a fundraiser for their scholarship programs. The barbecue includes a whole seasoned tri-tip and loaf of garlic bread for $25. Pickup will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of San Benito Street, near the Briggs Building. Tickets are available from any Rotary member.
