Cally Nunes, a local musician, will premiere her video at Paine’s Restaurant in Hollister, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The event will be preceded by an illusionist, with the video showing after. ‘Sleeping Beauty’

Railroad Club open house
The Model Railroad Club is hosting an open house at Bolado Park, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, though a donation of a non-perishable food item is suggested. Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 or $5 worth of can goods with a complete 4’x8′ Christmas Train Layout. All proceeds will be donated to the Community Food Bank. The winner does not have to be present.
Pedro Card Party
Tres Pinos School seventh- and eighth-graders are sponsoring a Pedro Card Party, Nov. 21, at 6:15 p.m. at Tres Pinos School in the multi-use room. The cost for Pedro players is $5 per person, and there will be lots of prizes for the winners. Refreshments will be served at the close of the evening, and some lucky person will win a complete Thanksgiving dinner basket. The proceeds will be used for class activities and field trips, including an eighth-grade trip to the state capitol in Sacramento where students will watch Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger sign a bill and meet with local state legislators.

Lights On Celebration
The Lights On Celebration will be held in downtown Hollister Nov. 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There are pre-parade festivities that will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 5:30 p.m., including Merchant Open Houses, Oriana Chorale, costumed characters and the Barber Shop Quartet. Pottery studio open house

Santa will sit in a lawn chair at Capitola Beach and will take wish list requests from kids. Santa’s reindeer will also attend. There will be open-air excursion cars that will travel through Santa Cruz. There will also be the option of the steam train to Bear Mountain with the view of the holiday trees. The YMCA will be offering health seekers workshops to share information with those who are seeking a healthy lifestyle and healthy community. The speakers for the “An Apple A Day…” event will be Paul Percival, who will talk about carbohydrates and Ralph Armstrong, who will discuss portion size. The Cerra Vista Elementary School Holiday Boutique is Dec. 5. Holiday in Lights Parade
The San Juan Bautista Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Holiday in Lights Parade Dec. 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Candyland and entries for the parade will be accepted until Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. The parade entry fee is $15 and entries of floats, marching, horses, or walking will be accepted. Parade check-in is 4 p.m. All entries should have lights and playing holiday music from floats is encouraged. Historical Society meeting

Coyote Creek Bird Walk
Jane Haley, a National Park Service docent for 20 years and a Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center volunteer, will be leading a Coyote Creek Bird Walk, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. along the creek, north of Morgan Hill. Participants will have an opportunity to observe migratory birds as well as discover an appreciation of local birds, their habitat and ecological importance. Alzheimer’s caregiver support group
Jovenes de Antano, the Health Projects Center, the Alzheimer’s Association and the San Benito County Behavioral Health department sponsor an Alzheimer’s caregiver support group on the second Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be Dec. 10, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St., in Hollister. The meetings offer support from professional and other caregivers in a similar situation. It allows family or friends who are caring for a loved one with memory impairments to develop good coping skills and an understanding of the disease process.
