Historical society walking tour

The San Juan Bautista Historical Society will host a walking tour of the mission presented by Fr. Ed and Ruben Mendoza. Participants are asked to meet at the Mission grounds at 10:45 a.m.. The tour of the grounds and mission archive will start at 11 a.m. and continue until 12:30 p.m. The tour will be followed by a barbecue in the olive grove by the Vaccarezza family. The 3rd annual Hollister PBR Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour will be at the San Benito County Fairgrounds Saturday at 6 p.m. There are other events throughout the day, beginning with a mutton busting event for children ages 7 and under. At 2 p.m., there will be live music, vendor booths, a kiddie corral and a barbecue, where fans can meet some of the riders. Tres Pinos School will host a wine tasting and silent auction at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the barbecue benefit local 4-H and FFA groups. ‘La Carpa de los Rasquachis’

El Teatro Campesino will present ‘La Carpa de los Rasquachis” for free on the lawn of the Luck Library in San Juan Bautista Sunday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. The performances will kick off a tour of the classic El Teatro Campesino piece written by Luis Valdez. The show is an immigrant’s story – the epic tale of the Chicano farm worker in the United States. The story follows Jesus Pelado Rasquachi through is trials and tells parts of the story through corridos, or Mexican ballads. Donations will be accepted at the show. Graniterock will be hosting its fourth annual 10K Rock & Run to benefit Aromas School at the A.R. The Rolling Hills’ Seeds Children’s Ministry Team will be hosting a Breakout Kids Small Groups at the United Methodist Hall, Sept. 16, from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is designed to children on a journey of developing spiritual habits that will influence their lives eternally. 11th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The YMCA of San Benito County will host its 11th annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, 3800 Airline Hwy., Friday, Sept. 18. Fees are $130 a person for green fees, cart, range balls, lunch, dinner and awards. Guests can attend dinner for $35. There are also $20 fun packages available for mulligans, prices, on-course games and refreshments.
