One comment on Mr. Fitzgerald’s Friday column where he claimed
to have no problem with Sheriff Hill beating prisoners for hitting
a fellow officer; I also have no problem with a righteous ass
kicking or ‘Chicago style curbside justice.’
My objection arises when that ass kicking is administered to
three handcuffed prisoners, in jail, under the color of authority
and then he lies about it. Mike, you know as well as I do that’s a
cowardly act, not justice.
Ask Hill what he would do if one of his deputies did exactly
what he did. You can take this to the bank; they would be arrested,
fired, charged and tried. Which by the way would be the
‘politically and morally correct’ thing to do. However, the sad
fact is, as of late, personal moralities are noticeably absent from
our local injustice system.

“I’m deeply troubled with the casual response I recently received from Mr. Morgan, principal at San Benito High, concerning one of his teacher’s unacceptable comments directed at my son.

Mr. Morgan contacted me the next day without first talking to the teacher in question or doing any investigating on his own. He only seemed to acknowledge my complaint when I inquired what steps would be taken if it had been my son making unacceptable comments to his teacher in class. I made it quite clear that nothing had been resolved with the teacher because he started the conversation telling me he was only trying to ‘encourage’ my son. What Mr. Morgan did was to refer the incident to my son’s counselor, telling her that he thought the situation had been resolved. Since I had talked to the teacher, it is my understanding that it is Mr. Morgan’s responsibility to handle this type of complaint concerning a teacher, not my son’s counselor. My son has sent in a complaint of his own to Mr. Morgan at Mr. Morgan’s request.

Basically, the instructor told my son he was an ignorant loser that would not amount to anything. There have been other incidents in which a staff member has lost control and voiced their negative opinions at my son. I have talked to Mr. Morgan prior to this incident and asked him to bring not only my concern, but, I believe, other parents’ concerns as well, to the attention of his staff in some type of sensitivity training.

There is a zero tolerance in place for our students and if it would have been my son calling his instructor an ignorant loser in front of his class, I have no doubt immediate action would have been taken. I’m demanding that personnel at the high school be held accountable as well. I believe they should have a higher standard because of the position they hold.

Our teenaged students have so many other issues going on all around them. They really need positive suggestions, not remarks that can have such a devastating impact on them not only now, but for years to come.”

“This weekend I found my grandfather’s dictionary. It solved one of the many Citizens Voice puzzles. Picadillo was misspelled. It is correctly spelled p-e-c-c-a-dillo which is defined as follows: The root pecado is Latin and Spanish for sin, adding ‘illo’ makes it many sins or many small sins. Now with Scattini threatening his employee and Attorney Pekin in partnership with Scattini’s son, and Scattini pocketing County Service of Process, or should I say Service of Profit, and a free vehicle, gas and car insurance, I believe his peccadillos are coming.”
