Tony Bruscia as mayor? Unbelievable!

“Tony Bruscia as mayor? Unbelievable!”

“In the early 50s, ex-communist Whittaker Chambers said he was a witness to each of the two great faiths of our time – God and Communism. Communism is ‘the vision of man without God.’

Fifty years later, we see the struggle our country is in with the demoralization of our youth (Michael Jackson, Britany Spears), gay rights (marriage), radical environmentalism and the list goes on. The protest of our president in England is all orchestrated by communists. The policies and objectives of the Democratic Party and some of the current list of candidates they have on the ticket continues the goals of socialism and communism by having the government dictating to the people.

The foresight Whittaker Chambers had had been proven true. Socialism and communism have invaded the Democratic Party. We the voters need to be enlightened to the threat to America. Arm yourself with the truth and vote.”

“Gordon Machado, Pat Loe’s planning commissioner, replied to a Citizens Voice letter in the Free Lance. It is so interesting to read the way he tried to present himself as so fair and balanced. I shall try to rebut his words.

First, he claims he is for balanced growth, never anti-growth and he finally admitted to being part of the group of Measure G proponents. He claims all services must be in place – fire, police, water and sewer, etc. – before anymore building.

By being one of the authors of the Measure G initiative, this destroys the claim for ‘balanced growth’ he proposes to be. Measure G is so far left from balanced growth, it practically prohibits any buildings and development. Therefore, how can we develop all the services needed? The city is broke and the county is running out of money with all its litigation expenses, so where is the money going to come from? His claims for services be provided before building just proves the point that he is totally anti-growth.

Mr. Machado states ‘it is essential for a community to grow in an orderly manner.’ That is a wonderful statement for him to make as we all can agree to that. But these are empty words from him as his actions in the past when he was pushing L&M (Measure G in an earlier form that was defeated) right up to the present proves his words are in direct opposites to his actions.

The San Francisco Chronicle dated Tuesday, May 29, 2001 had an article with the subject: Hollister hit by Silicon Valley growth. In this article, Gordon Machado is quoted, “Instead of expanding Highway 25, they ought to reduce it to a one lane,” said Machado. “And they ought to make it one way, heading North.” These remarks surely suggest anti-growth.

Boycott a business? Where in the Citizens Voice letter was boycott suggested? Mr. Machado must have a fear or maybe some of his customers decided not to do business with him anymore when they read about his involvement with the anti-growth proponents. Maybe he should think more positive as this might have been good advertisement for him since he might get new customers such as Pat Loe, Bob Cruz, Ruth Kesler, Richard Scagliotti, Janet Brians and son Grant, Becky McGovern, Richard Saxe and Normandy (Mandy) Rose.

Let’s hope Gordon Machado recognizes his empty words and chooses instead to better this community with a managed growth policy that is welcomed by all.”
