I was in court the other day for a traffic matter when I heard
about the secret grand jury. When I found out that the foreperson
was a local female attorney who practices criminal law in this
courthouse, I was dumfounded.
I know this is supposed to be secret, but don’t her criminal
clients have the right to know that there could be a potential
conflict of interest? Why didn’t the DA say something? This is both
concerning and confusing to me. If my attorney was the foreperson
of the criminal grand jury, I would want to know.
What is wrong with these people? This almost sounds criminal to
me.

“Page six of the Draft Housing Element of the City of Hollister Comprehensive Plan Update, 2004-2024 says, ‘Community members were kept informed of the public review process, meeting dates, and proposed housing policies and programs through extensive media coverage provided by San Benito County’s local newspapers, The Pinnacle and the Free Lance.’

Define ‘extensive’ – besides a couple bulletin board announcements, both the Free Lance and The Pinnacle have run two articles total: once in January 2004 about the General Plan process and once in June after a public workshop.

The GP Steering Committee meets monthly, but there’s been no articles about those meetings and the discussion of Hollister’s possible future for the next 20 years.

In December, the Drafts of the Land Use Element, Circulation element and Housing element were posted on the city’s Web site at http://www.hollister.ca.gov/Site/html/about/genPlan.asp, however was there any announcement of the posting or any statement about how citizens can submit comments?”
